Matt Chan made me throw up in a competition once. A couple of years later, he took second place in the Crossfit Games.

I come from a background of numerous sports, including big-mountain skiing, swimming, water polo, windsurfing, mountain biking, hockey, etc. I started CrossFit in 2006 while recovering from an ultra-running injury. I'd read several of Coach Glassman's articles, including "What is fitness," while doing some research, and decided to try it out.
The first CrossFit workout I ever tried was Linda in my garage, and it devastated me; I was hooked. Shortly after that, I got my L1 and started Coaching. I followed that up with the CF-L2 and have since coached 1000's of hours over the last 15+ years.
Some of my favorite highlights over those years are watching athletes do amazing things, like the 75-year-old who can once again use the bathroom unassisted; the couple who both get healthy enough that they were finally able to conceive; and the hockey player who finally gains enough strength and confidence to make the team of her dreams.
To me, one of the most beautiful moments in an athlete's career is at that point where they see beyond the glory of competition and discover the joy within the soul of their sport.
I love Old-School CrossFit. I love coaching people who can check their ego at the door and are willing to work hard and learn - with near-absolute precision- the fundamentals, and then are willing to mix in that intensity to drive results. In addition, I also subscribe to the ideal of: 'The goal is just to get fit. Make it the best hour of your day. Stay safe, turn up the music, high-five some people, and blow off some steam. So remember that. Relax. Have fun. Work out.
